I was a mom of 5 kids (ages 2-16) and my husband at the time had just lost his job.
I had a small direct mail business at the time, but without my husbands income after just a bit of time, the bills went unpaid so we could just survive. đ
Feeding, clothing, and schooling 5 kids is REALLY expensive! *lol*
Before we knew it we were 3 months behind on the house payment, the car payments, the insurance on our vehicles was about to expire, and right before the life changing power of an affiliate program hit our life we were even about to have our electricity and water shut off.
So I was beyond struggling at that point.
In June of 2004, I got the big idea to create a digital product, and open up an affiliate program for it.
I had no list or network of people, and had no clue how I was going to get traffic in front of my product so that people would buy it.
Creating an affiliate program and getting people to promote my product was the ONLY thing I could think of to get my product out there and making me money.
It was my ONLY hope!
Long story short... Within 2 weeks of launching my affiliate program for that product, I made $37,000 in sales.
Having an affiliate program literally saved us financially!
That was my very first product...
